An original from British Columbia Rothery had always dreamed of becoming a performer. in the show Bye Bye Birdie, Rothery made her debut at age 13 when she was a new dancer. For her performance in her theatre company's production of Annie Get Your Gun she received an award called the Most Outstanding Performer Award.
